Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 3, 2026
Introduction
SalderCheck is a free and independent tool that helps Dutch solar panel owners understand their financial situation after the net metering scheme ends in 2027. Your privacy is important to us.
This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are. We keep it as simple as possible: we collect minimal data and do not store your calculation inputs.
What data do we collect?
When you use our calculator, we temporarily process the following information to perform the calculation:
- Number of solar panels, power, orientation, and pitch
- Your consumption profile or annual consumption in kWh
- Your postal code (first 4 digits, for regional solar irradiance data)
✓ We do NOT store this data on our servers
The calculation is performed in real-time and the data is discarded immediately after. We cannot link calculations to specific individuals.
Cookies and Local Storage
SalderCheck uses only essential, functional cookies to improve your experience:
- Language preference (NEXT_LOCALE): Stores your language choice (Dutch or English)
- Theme preference (theme): Stores your theme choice (light or dark mode)
Analytics and Statistics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how many people use SalderCheck and which pages are most popular. Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics service.
What makes Plausible different:
- No cookies used
- No personal data collected
- No cross-site tracking
- Fully GDPR/AVG compliant without cookie consent
Third Party Services
We show affiliate links to energy comparison tools in the results. When you click on these links:
- Independent energy comparison tools that show all providers in the Netherlands
These comparison tools have their own privacy policies. When you click on an affiliate link and switch, we receive a small commission. This helps us keep SalderCheck free. Your data is not shared by us with these parties.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR (AVG in Dutch), you have the following rights:
- Right to access: request what data we have about you (none, because we don't store data)
- Right to rectification: correct data (not applicable, we don't store data)
- Right to erasure ('right to be forgotten'): delete your data (not applicable)
- Right to object: object to data processing
- Right to complaint: file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens)
To exercise your rights or if you have questions, contact us at: privacy@saldercheck.nl
Data Security
Even though we store minimal data, we take security seriously:
- All communication via encrypted HTTPS connections
- No permanent storage of personal calculation data
- Data minimization principle: we only collect what's strictly necessary
